Mysterious death of live-in partner in Chandiberia; companion found bleeding and hospitalized
July 21, Kolkata, muthokotha.in: Yet another live-in relationship has met a shocking end. The hanging body of a young woman was recovered from a flat in Chandiberia, Newtown. Her live-in partner was found bleeding at the scene and has been admitted to the hospital. The incident has caused a stir in the locality.
The Newtown Police have already initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to sources, the hanging body of Trisha Saha (25) was recovered on Monday from a flat in a residential complex in Chandiberia. Police broke down the locked door to enter the premises and retrieve the body.
Trisha’s live-in partner, Souvik Roy, was also found bleeding in the same flat. He has been taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Local sources indicate that Trisha and Souvik had been living together in this flat for the past four months. They had reportedly rented the apartment identifying themselves as a live-in couple.
Newtown Police have arrived at the scene with a forensic team and commenced an investigation. Preliminary speculation suggests the incident may have stemmed from a dispute or domestic discord between the two.
However, the exact cause of death remains unclear. Authorities are examining whether there are any external injury marks on Trisha’s body. The cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is available.
Efforts are being made to record Souvik’s statement regarding the incident, but it has not yet been possible to speak with him due to his critical physical condition.
A crowd gathered at the Chandiberia complex as news of the incident spread. Neighbors described the couple as quiet individuals who kept to themselves. No one was aware of any quarrels or discord between them.
A neighbor said, “They moved here four months ago. They didn’t really mingle much. Suspicion arose when the flat’s door remained closed since this morning, after which the police were informed.” Authorities are investigating whether Trisha died by suicide or due to other causes. Questions also remain regarding how Souvik sustained his injuries—did he injure himself, or was he attacked by someone else? The police are contacting the families and friends of both individuals to determine if there were any underlying mental health issues or relationship strains.
A mobile phone, a laptop, and other personal items have been seized from the flat. CCTV footage is also reportedly being examined.
Several incidents involving live-in relationships in Kolkata have come to light recently. This latest incident has once again raised questions regarding safety and mental health within such relationships.
However, the authorities cannot draw any conclusions just yet; the full picture is expected to emerge only after the post-mortem examination and Souvik’s statement.
This tragic outcome follows just four months of living together—one person is dead, and the other is hospitalized. This incident in Newtown serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and mental pressures inherent in relationships.
