Murder or Suicide? Questions Surround the Death of Trisha, a Live-in Partner in Newtown
July 21, Kolkata, muthokotha.in: Late Sunday night, police from the Newtown station recovered the hanging body of a 25-year-old woman from a flat in the Chandiberia area of Newtown. Her live-in partner was found in the same flat, bleeding profusely; the veins in his wrist had been slashed. He is currently alive and undergoing medical treatment at a hospital.
The deceased woman, Trisha Saha, hailed from the Barrackpore area of North 24 Parganas and worked as a social media influencer.
The injured man, Souvik Roy, is from Naihati. Souvik and Trisha had been living together in this flat as partners.
They had rented the flat in the Chandiberia complex in Newtown about four months ago.
Acting on complaints from locals, the police broke down the door and entered the flat on Sunday night. They discovered Trisha’s hanging body in one room and found Souvik lying on the floor in another, bleeding from a slashed wrist. He had lost a significant amount of blood.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have stemmed from strain in their personal relationship. It is speculated that Trisha might have been beaten and then hanged, followed by Souvik attempting suicide. However, these are merely speculations by locals; a police investigation is underway, and the full picture will emerge once the probe concludes.
Notably, there are signs of injury on various parts of Trisha’s body, and the cause of these injuries is being examined. Furthermore, bloodstains were found near her feet; it is possible that Souvik embraced Trisha while she was hanging, even as he was bleeding from his slashed wrist. Yet, these remain conjectures.
Meanwhile, neighbors claim they never heard any arguments or shouting between the couple during the four months they lived there. One middle-aged resident remarked, “Both of them were very well-behaved. I simply cannot understand how this happened.”
