Staff Reporter | July 11 | Patna, Bihar: After West Bengal, it is now Bihar’s turn. The Nitish government is taking major action following allegations that fake degrees and documents were submitted to secure jobs in government schools. Approximately 3,000 teachers across various state-run schools are set to lose their jobs.
According to administrative sources, widespread corruption plagued the teacher recruitment process in Bihar between 2006 and 2015. During that period, many candidates secured employment by submitting forged certificates and documents claiming false educational qualifications.
Once the matter came to light, the State Vigilance Bureau launched an investigation. Their report clearly indicates that significant irregularities occurred during the recruitment process.
Bihar’s Education Minister, Mithilesh Tiwari, stated that this decision was taken immediately after receiving the Vigilance Bureau’s investigation report.
He said, “Those who secured jobs using fake documents will be identified and promptly dismissed. Instructions have been issued to the Education Department to take strict action.”
The Minister added that, in addition to losing their jobs, the accused individuals will be required to return the salaries and allowances they have received to date.
FIRs have already been lodged against the accused teachers, and criminal proceedings are underway.
Reports indicate that many of the accused teachers voluntarily resigned before the government could take action. However, they will not be spared; the Minister stated that even those who have resigned will face departmental inquiries.
Experts believe that the simultaneous loss of jobs by 3,000 teachers could impact Bihar’s school education system. However, the government maintains that no one will get away with corruption.
