Private Tutor Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Class 12 Student in Kolkata’s Lake Town

Kolkata/Lake Town Correspondent: Another shameful incident has come to light in the city. A private tutor has been accused of sexually assaulting a Class 12 student after summoning her to his home for a tutoring session. Acting on the complaint, the Lake Town police arrested the accused on Saturday.

According to sources, the tutor had called the student to his residence for lessons about four days ago. The student alleged that he wanted to spend time with her under the “pretext” of teaching.

The complaint states that she was given a drink laced with a narcotic substance. Shortly thereafter, she felt unwell and lost consciousness. Upon regaining consciousness, she returned home alone and subsequently informed her family about the entire incident.

The Lake Town police registered a case based on the written complaint filed by the family. The accused tutor was arrested on Saturday and produced before the Bidhannagar Court on Sunday.

The police have initiated an investigation and have sought custody of the accused to further the probe. However, while being taken to court, the accused tutor denied all allegations, claiming, “It is all a lie; I have been framed.”

The police are examining the matter thoroughly. The investigation is proceeding based on the student’s statement and other evidence.
