Madhumita Maity from East Medinipur Soars Towards Space Exploration; Bengal Swells with Pride

Alakesh Maity, July 12, Mahishadal, purba Medinipur: “Spreading one’s wings from a humble home to reach for the moon”—Madhumita Maity from Mahishadal has turned this saying into reality. This brilliant student of Lakshya High School is now the pride of all of Bengal.

She has secured an opportunity to participate in the international satellite-building training program for “Mission ShakthiSAT,” India’s first all-female-led lunar satellite project.

Only one female student from each of the 108 participating countries has been selected for this platform. From among the crores of female students in India, only 21 were chosen, and Madhumita is the sole representative from West Bengal.

She will undergo hands-on training in satellite construction under the direct supervision of scientists from ISRO and Space Kidz India.

Hailing from a remote village in Mahishadal and an ordinary institution like Lakshya High School, Madhumita has risen above all obstacles to reach this international stage.

Her success proves that nothing is impossible when one possesses determination and talent. Girls who were once confined to the domestic sphere are now dreaming of reaching for the stars, inspired by Madhumita’s journey.

Behind this fairytale success lie Madhumita’s proud parents and the teachers of Lakshya High School—including the Headmaster—who nurtured and shaped this gem with immense care and dedication.

Following Madhumita’s achievement, there is now a growing demand for Lakshya High School—the institution whose name she has brought to global prominence—to be included in the Central Government’s “PM SHRI” scheme.

With improved infrastructure, this very soil could produce many more Madhumitas in the future who will bring glory to the nation. Local residents have conveyed this earnest appeal to both the Government of India and the Government of West Bengal.
