A tragic end to a romance. An aunt and her nephew had eloped and set up a home together in a rented house, but their relationship met a grim conclusion.
North 24 Parganas, July 4: On Saturday morning, the nephew’s hanging body was recovered from the rented house, while the aunt’s mutilated body was found on the nearby railway tracks.
According to local sources and the police, a romantic relationship had developed between the woman—a resident of North 24 Parganas—and her nephew. As their families did not approve of the union, the two had run away from home about a month ago and started living together in a rented house in the area.
On Saturday morning, neighbors grew suspicious when they found the door to the rented house locked from the inside and alerted the police. Officers arrived, broke down the door, and recovered the nephew’s hanging body from the room. Around the same time, the woman’s body was found on the railway tracks a short distance away.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the woman murdered her nephew—her lover—before taking her own life. However, whether it was murder followed by suicide or a different scenario will only become clear after the post-mortem and forensic reports are available. No suicide note was found at the scene.
Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation; family members are being questioned.
This relationship and its tragic outcome have caused a stir in the locality. Neighbors reported that although the couple had been living there for a month, there had been no visible signs of discord between them, leaving the reason behind this sudden tragedy shrouded in mystery.
