Plot to Kill Mother for Government Job – Daughter Arrested After Hiring Hitman to Run Her Over
Correspondent, Jaipur, Rajasthan, July 9, 2026: Driven by greed for a government job and property, 23-year-old Ayushi Sharma orchestrated the murder of her mother, Neeraj Sharma (45). She is accused of hiring a contract killer to eliminate her mother by staging a “road accident.” Police have arrested a total of seven individuals, including the daughter; however, the mastermind—her cousin—remains at large. Neeraj Sharma worked as a Lower Division Clerk at the Jaipur Court.
Police stated that Neeraj had secured the government job on compassionate grounds following her husband’s death. Her daughter, Ayushi, coveted both that job and the family property. Believing she would inherit the position upon her mother’s death, Ayushi hatched a plot to have her killed by a hired assassin.
How the murder was planned:
- Money: A contract killer named Hemant Sharma, a resident of Bharatpur, was hired for a sum of ₹7 lakh.
- Planning: The initial plan was to run her over with a rented Thar SUV, but that attempt failed. Subsequently, Neeraj’s movements were closely monitored.
- The Murder: On July 3, while returning home after dropping her son off at coaching classes, Neeraj was struck violently by a Scorpio SUV—an act intended to make it look like a road accident. After the incident, the perpetrators abandoned the vehicle and fled on a motorcycle.
Upon reviewing local CCTV footage, the police suspected the incident was not merely an accident. The ensuing investigation revealed the collusion of Ayushi, her uncle Mohan Swaroop, and her cousin Balaram (alias Ravi).
DCP (East) Ranjita Sharma stated that relatives assisted in planning the murder and were responsible for arranging the contract killer.
Police have arrested seven individuals so far:
Ayushi Sharma, Mohan Swaroop, Mohit Sharma, Arvind Sharma, Akash Sharma, Rohit Jatav, and Hemant Sharma.
Police claim that Balaram (alias Ravi) is the mastermind behind the plot. She is still at large.
Police stated that Ayushi confessed to the crime during interrogation. She admitted to having her mother killed over a job and property.
Neeraj’s brother, Rakesh Kumar Sharma, had stated in a police complaint that his sister told him she was being harassed—and even threatened with death—by her daughter and in-laws.
